Progressive rock in Mexico
Progressive rock in México reached its peak during the 1970s and its golden days in the '70s and '80s. By the first years of the '70s some rock bands initiated their incursion in this genre, some of them: El Ritual (Banda), [Los Dug Dug's, ''Toncho Pilatos'' (first album), La Revolución de Emiliano Zapata and Náhuatl (band).
Omar Jaso is an "icon" in this field, known as the most impressive Mexican Progressive Rock composer and interpreter from Mexico to the whole world, one of his known intellectual masterpieces is absolutely "Atlantes De Tula", with its three vibrant movements.
It is important to bring up the name of a rock group from Mexicalli City, Cast are recognized worldwide and performed in Japan, this group obtained some recognition by people near to them and participated in some rock festivals.
Nuevo México (banda), group leaders Jorge Reyes (flute) and Carlos Mata (guitar) icons of Progressive Rock in Mexico did a good job along with the band, their first considered Progressive Rock record was released in 1973, called: ''Hecho en casa'' (homemade). At the end of the '70s Jorge Reyes moved from Nuevo México y started some new bands such as Decibel, Al Universo y Chac Mool (band) Chac Mool. Also, right before and all through the '80s they created new bands such as Iconoclasta (banda), Cast, Nobilis Factum, Delirium (banda), Delirium, Praxis (banda)s. Arturo Meza y Carlos Alvarado included Progressive Rock in some of their music material.
